Catio 9: Open-Air Veranda | Enclosed Patio

After a history of tragedy allowing kitties to roam, Diane began keeping her two cats indoors. Seeing them longingly gaze outside for much of the time, Diane was inspired to find a way to allow them to enjoy being outside again without the danger of injury to them and the surrounding wildlife. This open-air addition to her house allows for plenty of space for humans to spend socially distant time together with the two curious kitties. Natural lighting pours in from the alternating roof panels and skyways and ramps line the outer walls of the catio for plenty of vertical play and observation space.

The Catio Tour is part of the Cats Safe at Home campaign, which seeks to reduce the number of cats living outdoors in the Portland metropolitan area in a humane and environmentally responsible manner. We believe that every cat deserves a safe home where they are loved, cared for, and kept free from hazards. The Catio Tour was created to offer inspiration for those looking for ways for their cats to have safe outdoor time. We hope you enjoy this year’s Catio Tour!
